Tuuli Paukkeri is senior researcher at the VATT Institute for Economic Research. She gained her PhD in economics at the Aalto University School of Business in 2018.
Tuuli has specialized in Finnish social benefits. She is currently doing research on social assistance, guarantee pension benefits and disability pensions, as well as the payment frequency of benefits, drawing on detailed Finnish register data. She is also researching the effects of tax and transfer systems on equality of opportunity, especially in poorer countries.
Tuuli has worked at VATT since the spring of 2016, but has been involved in VATT’s research projects on disability pensions earlier as well. Between 2011–2015 she was a research assistant at UNU-WIDER in Helsinki. During the academic years 2018–2020, Tuuli was a visiting post doctoral researcher at the University College London (UCL) and London School of Economics (LSE) in London, UK.
Tuuli is on maternity leave since in December 2020, returning in late 2021.
