VATT.fi accessibility statement

This accessibility statement explains how the website of the VATT Institute for Economic Research (vatt.fi) complies with the Act on the Provision of Digital Services, the site’s accessibility shortcomings, and the ways of providing us with feedback on accessibility. We consider accessibility in developing the service.

How accessible is the website?

The VATT.fi website mostly meets the accessibility criteria required by law, which are levels A and AA of the WCAG version 2.1 criteria. The website has some accessibility shortcomings, which will be explained later in this statement.

In March 2021, an external expert carried out an assessment of the website’s accessibility status. The assessment and report have been updated on 27 April 2022. Some of the noted shortcomings have corrected. Accessibility is a consideration in developing all new features. Additionally, we also make regular observations on the accessibility of the service with, e.g., accessory applications and correct any noted shortcomings in the accessibility of the content.

The officials of the organisation will also receive instruction in considering accessibility requirements in their own work.

Content or functions that are not yet accessible

Embedded content

The website contains some embedded content from social network services or elsewhere on the Internet, the visibility of the links thereof in the body text is lacking. (WCAG 2.1).

Doria repository

The long-term preservation of VATT’s publications is managed by the National Library of Finland’s Doria repository (https://www.doria.fi/handle/10024/). These publications do not meet the critical accessibility requirements. Inadequacies in the accessibility of publications published after 23 September 2018 will be addressed as soon as possible.

Content that is not covered by legislation

The website includes content that is not subject to legal requirements. Such content includes:

•    third-party content published on the service, which are not produced, funded or controlled by the service provider
•    files published on the website before 23 September 2018

Social media

Accessibility requirement have been considered in VATT Institute for Economic Research social media channels since 23 September 2020. Visual and audio-visual material created before 23 September 2020 also includes content that does not meet the accessibility requirements (e.g. subtitles, alternative text).

The Regional State Administrative Agency for Southern Finland supervises the implementation of accessibility requirements. If you are not satisfied with the response you receive or you do not receive any response within two weeks, you can submit your feedback to the Regional State Administrative Agency for Southern Finland.
