Tuomas Kari is a Senior Researcher at VATT Institute for Economic Research. His research topics include the economics of entrepreneurship and innovation, the role of business leaders for organizations, and political selection. The research utilizes Finnish register data and both quasi-experimental and experimental research designs. He has examined, for example, the importance of non-cognitive skills in becoming an entrepreneur and in the growth of startup companies. Tuomas received his PhD in Economics from the University of Zurich in 2023. Previous to VATT, he has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki and as a visiting researcher at the London School of Economics and UC Berkeley.
