Lauri Luosta is a specialist at VATT’s Data Room. His research has focused on the effects of policy interventions on household finances, consumer finance, behavioral health, and child well-being. In his research, he uses methods from applied microeconomics, quasi-experimental research designs, and large-scale register and administrative data.
Lauri received his PhD in Consumer Behavior and Family Economics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Before joining VATT, he was an affiliate economist at Northwestern University, worked as a researcher at the Urban Institute, and was a postdoctoral researcher at the Polish Academy of Sciences, where he contributed to the development of a microsimulation model for assessing well-being impacts in collaboration with the London School of Economics, the Paris School of Economics, and the University of Luxembourg.
