VATT.fi accessibility statement

This accessibility statement applies to the VATT.fi service (https://vatt.fi/). The statement was prepared on 7 July 2025. The service is subject to the Act on the Provision of Digital Services according to which e-services covered by the Act must be accessible. 

The accessibility of the service has been assessed by an external expert organisation.

Template accessibility issues

  • Scrolling of the drop-down menu causes a new page to load. (WCAG 3.2.2 On Input)
  • Paging has been realised in different ways in different parts of the website. (WCAG 3.2.4 Consistent Identification)
  • Accessible names of submenu buttons in the navigation menu are identical. (WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships, 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value)
  • The site contains links that open in new tabs without any warning. (WCAG 2.4.4 Link Purpose [In Context])
  • The current language is not marked programmatically in the website’s language selection links. (WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships)
  • The focus order does not proceed logically in connection with the search function. (WCAG 2.4.3 Focus Order)
  • There is no appropriate language identification for content that differs from the main language of the page. (WCAG 3.1.2 Language of Parts)

Colours and contrast

  • The selected subitem in the navigation menu is difficult to distinguish from the unselected ones due to insufficient contrast. (WCAG 1.4.11 Non-Text Contrast) 
  • Colour is used as the only means of distinguishing footer links from the body text. (WCAG 1.4.1 Use of Color)

Planning and monitoring documents

  • Header levels are not used correctly in the PDF file attachment section. (WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships )
  • A heading that describes the content is missing from a table. (WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships)
  • The content of a table is placed within two different table identifiers. (WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships)
  • Only low-contrast colour is used to communicate information in graphs. (WCAG 1.4.1 Use of Color, 1.4.11 Non-Text Contrast)

Not within the scope of the legislation

  • Content published by users or third parties that is not produced, funded or controlled by the service provider
  • Office program files (e.g. doc, pdf and odt) published prior to 23 September 2018

Supervisory authority

If you are dissatisfied with the response you have received or have not received any response within two weeks, you can submit a report to Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom).
