Sampling for two-year pre-primary education experiment

The Ministry of Education and Culture is conducting an experiment on two-year preschool education. The experiment lasts from the beginning of August 2021 to the end of May 2024. An estimated total of 10,000 children born in 2016 or 2017 will participate in the experiment.

The project carries out sampling for a two-year pre-primary education experiment conducted in 2021–2022 to select the children who participate in the experiment at pre-primary education units providing two-year pre-primary education (test group) and a similar group of children who participate in conventional pre-primary education at units providing one-year pre-primary education (reference group). A random sampling will be carried out to enable the making of causal conclusions from which the effects of other potential factors on the outcomes of interest have been eliminated when evaluating the experiment's impacts.
