Pay differences and pay adjustment

Date of project : 2020 - 2023

The research project examines pay differences, ways of influencing them through policy measures, and the role wage stickiness plays in inequalities.

The questions the project aims to answer include the following: 1) How have amendments to the Act on Equality affected the pay gap between women and men? 2) Are wages sticky downwards, and are there any differences in flexibility depending on occupation-specific income levels? 3) What is the overall economic importance of asymmetric pay adjustments and do they have an impact on economic inequalities? The key data source for the project is Statistics Finland's structure of earnings data, which contains information on employees' hourly wages.
