Kaisa Kotakorpi is professor of economics at the University of Tampere and research professor in VATT's research group on social security, taxation and the distribution of income. Kotakorpi specializes in public economics, and taxation in particular. Her research deals with the evaluation of public policies and the impact of the tax and benefit system on the behaviour and wellbeing of citizens.
Kaisa Kotakorpi completed her doctoral degree in economics at the University of Tampere in 2007. Before joining VATT in September 2017, she has been professor of economics and vice head of the Department of Economics at the University of Turku. In 2014-2018, Kotakorpi was a member of Finland's Economic Policy Council.
Kotakorpi is a fellow of the CESifo research network. She spent a year as EDNET Marie Curie Fellow at the London School of Economics and holds a B.A. in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) from Oxford University.
