Andrés is a Senior Researcher at VATT and an Associate in the Centre for Economic Performance at LSE. His research cover topics on labor and public economics, and with it he aims to identify and find ways of relaxing constraints that prevent individuals from taking full advantage of their development opportunities.
In his recent work, Andrés addresses two broad questions. First, how social interactions affect human capital investment decisions, and second, how the organization and institutions of educational systems affect their performance. Currently, he is studying the effect of social interactions and neighborhood institutions on crime.
Andrés completed his undergraduate studies at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and his Ph.D. in Economics at the London School of Economics.
